1 Peter 4:10
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
Saturday April 5th
Team arrived at 4:30 am to check in for our United Airlines flight to Houston, then on to Monterrey, Mx. We were warmly and graciously greeted upon arriving at our base camp in Arteaja, Coahuila and treated to a delicious lunch by Olga and her team. After settling in we had an opportunity to fellowship, hike, enjoy the beautiful mountains livestock, and desert cactus.
We met together with Drs. Esley and Sandy, our hosts, who are the integral part of the medical missions planning for FAME, WWHO, and Saving Hope Kids Ministry. After another delicious meal in the evening, Regan led us in the planning agenda for tomorrow. We also played lots of games including Anna Grover having us each share our favorite animal, color, number, and why!
Sunday April 6th
The sunrise was glorious to begin our sabbath day before heading to church service in La Biznaga at Vida Nueva Iglesia Cristiana. The music was filled with the Holy Spirit, joy, and the love of Jesus - with dancing, singing, clapping, tambourines, and musical instruments. We even had the village puppies and dogs joining in the service! Marc Boudouris gave an eloquent message about having a pure heart, application to encourage others and have confidence in Christ. The message referenced Hebrews 3:7-12, and Hebrews 10:1-12. (Marc also shared quite a story about being stubborn with Cheri, his wife, which resulted in running out of gas in the winter while she was pregnant.)
After church service and fellowship, the team went back to camp for lunch, then to Vida Nueva Iglesia Cristiana again to sort, organize, and pack all of the medications, injectables, and equipment for the next four days that will be delivered to each village, Emiliano Zapata, Mesa De Las Tablas, Castillo, and La Biznaga. We are praying for successful days ahead as a team to bless each and every person we encounter.
It’s already been such a blessing for me to be part of this mission trip. I’m incredibly grateful too, for our E91 Spanish classes, and our Spanish church services that have been such a help in preparing me personally for this trip.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
